Self portrait (2008) ideas:

So far, this one has the strongest presence in me:

_______

This is the sketch that of a painting that I will be doing for [info]bare_easel
 - expected to be finished sometime in 2009.

______

There is another painting that I will be working on - a portrait of Ana, my friend Hector's beautiful young daughter. I do not have the sketch of this but I suspect I will be beginning it soon.  Of course, you guys will see pictures. :)

_____

These are my passions! Look for pictures.

It was definitely what I would call a labor of love, as I am unfamiliar with the editing software and it took HOURS.
But I think it turned out alright! Right down to the little music mash up.

More coming! Sketches of upcoming paintings on the 'morrow!
Keep your eyes open - we're keeping it fast and heavy, kids.

Self portraits (unfinished):

This is an unfinished piece that I did during a very troubled period of my life, about three years ago.
I have been asked or told by many people over the years to leave it as it is and never finish it, so I have varnished it and promised it to a friend (you know who you are!).

I intend to never finish this one, and will probably make it a gift to the Burning Man, should I ever go.
It is my least favorite.

This one is a work-in-progress gift for Tim, my lovely Swiss-Irish boy. He is mildly obsessed with trees.
I call it Dreaming Tree.

Here are some drawings! I love to doodle random little creatures.

Mossmouth- Pigment liner on paper.

Faun - Ball point on paper.

I think of this one as a pirate pixie. Ball point on paper.

Urchin - For Tim, summer of 2007.

The color is a little skewed on these, but hey, I'm no photographer.

Enjoy, my loves! More coming soon.
Now that I'm back in Gainesville and in Art Mode (vs. Make Money Mode) I can do this more regularly. Yipee!

A very dear friend of me asked me to revive an idea for him that I had back in 2003 - in high school. I love him very much, and plus, he offered to pay me for it (thought I insisted on a much lower price than I would normally ever quote for something of this size and effort level) - so, here it is. Finally done!

The glare in the photo is awful. I may have better ones tomorrow, with natural light. I just finished it a little while ago, and was so excited!

Prismacolor pencil on black paper.
They've been battered--I just got them back from a friend--but they survived!

My friend, Roger, asked that I do a William Blake tribute.

The original idea was destroyed in an accident. I was very upset.

I did this one in less than an hour. It is, by far, not as good as the first. It's not even the same idea.

A good friend reminded me of this painter today.

I love the visceral quality to her work.

Anthony Ackrill.

He lives in Gainesville, and gave me some pointers a few weeks ago. Graduate of the Florence Academy.
Check out his work. [read: google search his name]
He's selling in NY quite succesfully, and he is quite awesome.

If you're into photography, I highly suggest taking a look at Marcus Tanner's website.

He does some beautiful, beautiful work.
I also know him personally, and he's a super cool cat.

Check it out!

And my newest girl
here... )
this is so exciting.
i'll get scans of them (e.g., non-glare-nasty ones) as soon as i can!
thanks for looking!

ps -
i dont think her face really looks concave in the first one; i think it's the angle at which the shot was taken. a friend looked at it and brought that up.
we'll see!

Any time I start feeling down about what I do, I look at the work of Audrey Kawasaki and it makes me feel a little bit better.

Another rectangular.

yin-yang twins, hah

What do you guys think? So far, Inanna and Apollo rank in the lead for favorites.
I don't know how long I'll keep this style around, but for now it's kinda fun.

I'm just having a grand 'ole time with this line-art-y thing.
New pictures of the new developments concerning La Mer, the mermaid--in two or three days.

Much love, and many thanks to you guys for looking. :)
